adventures

I have been continuing to enjoy my new-found love, the sepia brush inking pen, in the rare times when I take a break from my sign-painting duties and NaNoWriMo novel finishing. (FYI, I only made it about halfway through my plot by the time I reached my 50,000 mark: I'd apparently not realized exactly how many words I'd be using for world-building and planned far too much in-between stuff.)

This is Constantine. He's from my novel, which is a massively retold bunch of fairytales melded together and thrown into a world filled with civil strife. He's the beast from Beauty and the Beast. Mostly I just wanted to draw something on my watercolor paper.
Now... I am off to stop procrastinating! I shall finish my novel... if it is the last thing I do. Right after I eat a bowl of ice cream.

I keep forgetting I have a haiku blog, too.

With the dawning of a new year (and, of course, the pressure to announce corresponding resolutions) I was meandering around my email and blogger pages, looking for distractions. Of course, I found one, in the form of my own long-forgotten haiku blog.

 Chloe's 100 Haiku blog

Like the goofball I am, I was going strong with these until about July, when I apparently had my first senior moment (senior as in high school senior) and my entire memory of my project was wiped from my brain.

Ah, well, that's okay. Better late than never, I suppose!

Chloe recently discovered she loves:

Brush inking pens. I can't believe I never realized how amazingly fun they are to use.

More December Drawings

My character Leo... the writing on the side is a "guide to surviving Leo during the holidays" with helpful tips like "don't let him have sugar because he's hyper enough already". Tried to do him in my cartoony style.

Drew this on 12/12/12, hence the date in the corner. Practiced coloring. That girl has one terrible paper cut... I was watching Star Trek while coloring and got a bit distracted.

doodles

Finally did the "Draw This Again" meme, I'm pretty pleased with the outcome.

In our youth, my friend Charlotte and my sister and I all loved our webkinz to bits. This is Charlotte's raccoon and my white terrier, a happy married couple, as humans.

And finally, happy (belated) holidays to you all! I drew this while suffering from a splitting headache and watching football with my grandfather (I will never understand that game) which is why there is absolutely no rhyme or reason to his sweater. Sigh.

Happy 2013!

I rang in the new years with a Doctor Who marathon and (slightly cold) spaghetti... altogether quite an enjoyable way to celebrate, if you ask me.

last drawing of 2012

I hope everyone had an awesome Christmas! (sorry for not posting, I'm a dud blogger and I had a fever and a cough and spent most of Christmas break trying not to fall asleep and miss the excitement.)

Oh, and obligatory list of New Years' resolutions:

  1. write and illustrate an entire graphic novel. I don't even care if its terrible I just wanna do it.
  2. actually that's my only resolution at the moment. I never resolve myself until about January 15th. Maybe I should resolve to stop procrastinating on this kind of time stuff.
Now I guess I'm off to do.... something of worth, hopefully. :D

Happy December!

I guess you could say that I've started off the month with a whole lot of seasonal drawings. These are just a few of the ones I've finished already.

November has come and gone...

.... and I wrote 50,000 words!
I might come blog more now that I'm not freaking out about plotting (which is what I did all October) or freaking out about writing (which is what I did all November). We'll see. ;)

New Blog Style!

I must admit, I was a bit disenchanted with the old one.Still, I was sad to say goodbye for ever (Blogger no longer offers that template for use).

But now I suppose I have a very good reason to finally make that new header, too-- my old one doesn't quite fit the header space! :)

Just to clarify: I only colored this, the lineart was drawn by an internet friend. :)

Look, ma, no braces!

Oops, never mind.

Due to a mistake by the Orthodontist, last week I didn't get my braces off (as scheduled)and instead must keep them on until September.

That said, I do happen to be the only kid in the entire universe who didn't want to get her braces off, so all's well. (Actually it briefly occurred to me to reapply my rubber bands to give myself an overbite so they'd have to correct it.)

School...

So school started yesterday to my dismay, and I now (once again) know my Latin vowels and dipthongs, have read about the Puritans and the explorer Alvar Nuñez Cabeza de Vaca, and know a little more about Elucid's elements, and also the philosopher/astronomer Thales.

And that is all I have to say about it.

sick sick sick sick sick agh yup

I'm all shaky and nauseous and I have a terrible headache.

And the worst part is that I really want to draw, but I can hardly see the paper because my head spins every time I sit up.

And that is enough of my complaining. :D

Rewriting adventures...

I'm busybusybusy rewriting last year's NaNoWriMo novel, mostly because my friend Charlotte ordered me to, but also because I'm getting more hyped for this year's novel, and I'm trying to see what I can do more effectively this year. (For one thing, I'm making sure this novel plan is long enough-- last year I finished my story halfway through the month and still had like 25,000 words to write.)

This is one of the characters, Harrow Hemingsworth, from my other potential novel idea for this November.

Now, off to continue my rewriting....

More fairytale retelling....

Well, I've been busy as of late continuing to try to decide what I really want to work on for my NaNoWriMo novel this November. I'm rather torn between a strange mystery I've been plotting since early this year, or the fairy-tale/fantasy that's been stewing in the back of my brain for a few years already.

Anyways, since I've recently been leaning more towards the fantasy idea, I've been avidly doodling the characters I've planned for it. (I also doodled the characters from my other story, but they're buried somewhere and I can't find them. :P) Zee and Clem, the Little Red Riding Hood twins I posted the other day, are two of the characters, too.

And then there's Beauty and the Beast, a.k.a. Brianna and Constantine. They apparently share a taste in hair and sweaters. Actually, I'm very proud of those sweaters, the designs took me forever and I spent a long time trying to get the texture right. (Probably too long. XD)

And also Foster, a.k.a. Prince Charming. He's basically a parody of typical Charming from every fairy tale-- he has no hobbies except for fencing, he has remarkably good manners, and he wanders about forests and whatnot waiting for random good things to happen to him. And he wears a Perry the Platypus t-shirt because he's a goofball. And he's terribly pigeon toed.

Also, I've considered rewriting George MacDonald's fairytale, The Light Princess, into a younger children's book and illustrating it. I'm really interesting in the project-- I've got a few ideas I'd really like to try on the illustration and I can't wait to try them out, and see if they work out the way I'd like them to.

And that is all, at least temporarily.

[EDIT: Hey, I spoke too soon. I'm back already! After publishing this post, I noticed that it was my 300th post! Calls for celebration, don't you think?  Well-- maybe later. I think I've typed enough tonight. ;)]

Red Riding Hoods

Clem's on the left, Zee's on the right. ;)

Ever since my return home, I've had no desire to do anything but draw and eat microwavable burritos. (And hang out with my family, of course, but I always want to do that. :D)

At any rate, here's a drawing of two of my characters from my fantasy novel in-the-making. They're Zee and Clem Pritchard, and they are the Little Red Riding Hoods, plural. I like drawing identical twins, but it is hard.

And now I am off to draw some more...

New cat?

Yes, I totally drew this masterpiece. ;)
Well, its official-- Sushi's friend hasn't missed a single meal for almost two months now. I think we have a new cat.

At any rate, he's a he (we think) and he's a stripey one. The kids have been calling him "Lioness", but that really doesn't work for him. I seem to have formed a habit of calling him "Louis" (I have no idea why), and so now some of the others are calling him that, too.

Anyways, Beowulf seems to loathe him.

Woah, look....

...I drew something else with a background! Two pictures with backgrounds in as many days-- I think this is a new record! :D
